COVID-19 Surge Facility wins at the IPMA Global Awards

The Aspen Medical designed and built COVID-19 Surge Facility won Silver in the Construction, Engineering and Infrastructure category at the 2020 International Project Management Association (IPMA) global awards.

Due to rising cases of COVID-19 presenting in Australia in the first quarter of 2020, the ACT Government commissioned Aspen Medical to build and operate a 51-bed facility that responded to patients infected with or suspected of having COVID-19. Practical Completion of the facility was to be on May 15, 2020. With seven days design-time and 37 days for construction, the facility was built with off-the-shelf and locally manufactured materials to meet the recommended requirements of the World Health Organization specifically for COVID-19 care.

The judges commented: “On the basis of the project management performance, the project team has proven to the judges that its project management approach and results are of a world class level and an excellent example to other project teams working in international project management.”
